Venkanna Babu Guthula

PhD Student

I am an Earth observation researcher focused on machine learning methods for remote sensing data. My interests center on applying machine learning to fully leverage remote sensing imagery for real-world applications. My current work involves segmenting building footprints and other objects from drone and satellite imagery to help assess mosquito-borne disease risks in African cities.

Currently, I am a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, supervised by Christian Igel, and I also work closely with Ankit Kariryaa and Nico Lang.

Previously, I completed my Master's at the University of Twente, Netherlands, and my Bachelor's at Andhra University, India. Before starting my PhD, I also worked at several organizations, including Mapbox, Wildlife Institute of India and CropIn. Please check my Curriculum Vitae for more details.
